Dive Into Fall Fashion: The 5 Trends to Fall in Love With

With fall just around the corner, it's time to dive into cooler weather (finally!) and fall trends that you're sure to fall in love with.

While there is no shortage of great trends for fall 2013, the five trends listed below are fall's top trends. Not only are these trends a great refresh for fall, but they're also easy to incorporate into your wardrobe.

1. Winter Whites:

As the weather grows cooler, it seems like our wardrobe does too. We reach for darker colors to fit the cooler air, but trying wearing something other than dark colors this fall. Instead, up the wattage of your wardrobe with winter whites.

To avoid looking like you're stuck in summer, keep textiles in mind with this trend. Choose knits, cashmere, and leather over cotton or linen.

Wear a white coat to work, white denim to class, or a classic white chunky knit sweater paired with dark denim.

2. Classic Prints:

If you're sick of florals, brights, and heavy graphic prints, then fall is your season. It's time to embrace plaid, leopard, and especially houndstooth. These classic prints have made their way back into everyday wear and are as stylish as ever.

All three prints are a classic, chic, and fun addition to your wardrobe.

  1. For a modern twist on classic plaid, play with fabrics. A plaid print chiffon blouse is great for the office while a plaid print jacket (try it in tweed!) is a chic way to stay warm. And of course, a simple plaid button down with dark denim is a perfect casual outfit.
  2. Houndstooth, on the hand, may seem bold and a little too much, but try it out! Treat it as a neutral and embrace the chic pattern in all your favorite pieces. Think a great statement coat, houndstooth print shoes, jewelry, and clutches.
  3. Designers took in leopard print for fall and gave it a modern twist by making leopard larger than life. Look out for oversize leopard print in the classic black/white and other fun color combinations.

3. Camel:

This fall is about simplicity so go au natural this season with camel - a warmly toasted brown. Because the chic color is just another neutral, it's incredibly easy to incorporate it into your wardrobe. Mix camel with winter whites, black, navy, and greens. Camel also looks great with a pop of bright color (pink, orange, red).

4. The Turtleneck:

Believe it or not, turtlenecks are back. Though you may want to skip this trend entirely, give it a shot. A turtleneck can easily look chic if you style it the right way. Plus, what's a better way at keeping yourself warm without adding bulk to your outfit?

Pair a basic turtleneck sweater under your favorite statement coat or grab a knitted turtleneck sweater and pair it with dark denim. Add your favorite statement necklace and no one will believe you're working a turtleneck.

5. Leather:

Don't shy away from this trend just yet. This season, try leather in looser silhouettes and different colors (maroon is a must!).

Needless to say, we can't wait for fall! What trends are you most looking forward to wearing?
