Rebecca Minkoff Meets Denim

Your new favorite pair of jeans just hit Rebecca Minkoff’s website.

NYC designer Rebecca Minkoff has entered denim territory and oh, did she do a great job.

Rebecca Minkoff Denim is comprised of 5 jeans styles – two pairs of shorts, two skinnies, and one boyfriend – and includes two Supima cotton and modal blend tee’s, making them super soft and the perfect tee to pair with jeans.

The jeans are named after the streets of NYC: Jane Skinny Jean, Bleecker Skinny Jean, Mercer Boyfriend Jean, Perry Short, and Crosby Short. (Psst. I’m obsessed with the Bleecker Skinny Jean in “Blue Multi Print.“)

The tees, on the other hand, are named after streets in Brooklyn: Bedford Front Tail Shirt and Smith Boyfriend Pocket Tee.

The RM Denim collection is classy, chic, and perfect for any time of day:

  • For a comfort-chic look, pair the Mercer Boyfriend Jean with the Bedford Front Tail Shirt together for a happy marriage of clothing. Add pumps and your favorite statement necklace to dress it up.
  • For a night out, choose your favorite top and heels and pair it with the Bleecker Skinny Jean in blue paisley print.

The RM Denim collection is not only affordably priced (from $48 and $128), but also gives back. With every purchase from the collection, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry program, an initiative to end hunger in the United States. Shopping and doing good, I love that.

Start shopping and get your hands on some great jeans and perfect tees to pair. You can shop the RM Denim collection online at the RM Denim Shop and in stores. And if you’re in NYC, shop the Rebecca Minkoff Denim pop-up at 96 Greene Street in NYC (June 27–July 9) which will later become Minkoff’s New York flagship.

Shine Like An Emerald – How to Best Wear the Color of the Year

Is it just me, or should Rihanna re-sing “Shine Like a Diamond” next year so that it’s “Shine Like an Emerald?”

Anyways, Emerald is 2013’s color of the year and it’s time to start incorporating the gem into your wardrobe. However, green may seem like a weird color to work with and you might be asking yourself questions like: “What colors does it go best with?” “How do I avoid clashing colors?” “I don’t usually wear green, so how do I incorporate it into my closet?”

If you are actually asking yourself these questions, no worries, because that’s the point of this post: to help you embrace your inner gemstone and work the color of the year.

But first, below are some great emerald picks to add to your closet, house, and beauty and jewelry collection:

Emerald City

Clockwise, from left to right: Disco Nights Dress from NastyGal, Green Circles Lamp (perfect way to add some color to a room!), 7 For All Mankind Jeans, Illamasqua nail varnish in Viridian, MAKE UP FOR EVER Pure Pigments in No. 18, Emerald Green, Emerald Drop Earrings from BaubleBar (these definitely look more than $32, right?), Coach Zoee heel, La Mer Collections WatchTealight Holder, Terry towels from Brooks Brothers.

Believe it or not, emerald is a simple color to work with if you’re not afraid of green.

Dressing Up With Emerald

Outfit #1: Emerald Dress from ModCloth — Gold-collared jacket, Bib necklace, Anne Klein Cap-toed heels

  • This gemstone looks utterly chic when paired with gold (currently my favorite color combo), so have fun and add some gold to your outfit whether it’s with the great gold-collored jacket above, or with gold accessories. For some color, add pinks, blue, purples, or reds.

Outfit #2: Skater Dress from Nordstrom — Juicy Couture fur coat, Cobalt drop earrings, Pink Crystal Cluster ring, Oscar de la Renta ring, Steve Madden pumps

  • Emerald is beautiful when paired with shades of  pink. It’s a great color combination and always looks great together. Add in some blue for a pop of color if you’re up for it, otherwise play with pinks and emeralds.

For a more simple approach to emerald, pick up an emerald sweater or top and have fun with all the accessories:

Outfit pieces: Cashmere Crewneck Sweater, TopShop Skinny Jeans, Aldo blue booties

Here’s to looking great in emerald in the new year!

Step Into Paige Denim

If I had to choose one brand of denim that I’m currently obsessed with, it would have to be Paige Denim.

The Los Angeles-based company began in 2004 and since then, has moved its way up in the designer jean world among Hudson Jeans, 7 for all Mankind Jeans, and the like. Paige Denim marries wonderful fabric with impeccable style for a result of beautiful, stylish, and comfortable jeans. What more could a fashion-forward, jean-loving girl want?

Personally, I love all of Paige’s jeans, but these are just a few of my favorites:

Paige Denim Favorites

Above, from left to right:

  1. Skyline Ankle Peg jeans – 1 of 3 Paige jeans exclusive to ShopBop
  2. Polka Dot Verdugo Skinnies – My current favorite.
  3. Moonlight Print Verdugo Ultra Skinnies – Super artsy for a pair of jeans, don’t you think? But they’re absolutely gorgeous.
  4. Emerald Edgemont Ultra Skinnies – These are necessary because, hello, the 2013 color of the year is emerald! And the double zippers in front are a great accent.

Shopbop carries Paige Denim, including three jeans created exclusively for the online fashion retailer. You can check out the Resort 2013 LookBook on ShopBop here.

Have a pair you love? Share with me in the comments!

P.S. Happy 12/12/12!

H&M Will Recycle Your Clothes

In exchange for your old clothes, Swedish clothier H&M will give you a discount on a future purchase.

H&M is launching a global initiative to encourage shoppers to recycle the clothes they no longer wear instead of throwing them in the trash. The retailer has said that as much as 95% of the clothes people would throw away can be used again.

Beginning in February 2013, customers will be able to bring in used clothing from any brand and H&M will accept clothing in “any condition,” according to the LA  Times. In return for your used clothing, you’ll receive a voucher for a future purchase. So basically, feel good about recycling your clothing, come back to H&M to buy more clothes and use your voucher, and recycle more clothes.

H&M is partnering with a global recycling company, I:Collect, who will then handle the recycled clothes at a sorting plant in Germany. There, the clothing will be separated for re-use for more apparel or for other products such as cleaning rags, padding, and more.

The retailer has said that it’s long-term goal is to “reduce the environmental impact of garments throughout the lifecycle,” as stated in the Los Angeles Times.

Now might be a good time to begin cleaning out your closet to separate the clothes you love and wear from the clothes that you don’t really think you’d wear again.
