Let me tell you about my fashion-filled weekend:
I attended Her Campus’ College Fashion Week in Santa Barbara this past Saturday. For those of you who don’t know (but you should know), Her Campus is an online community for women – specifically the collegiette. You’ll find articles on Love, Life, Career and Style by HerCampus.com as well as articles on Campus News, Blog, Photos, Events, Campus Cuties, and Campus Celebrities written by local contributors at over 200 college chapters in the U.S.
Check out the college chapter which I contribute to: Her Campus Cal Poly!
College Fashion Week began in Boston, Mass., and traveled across the country to Santa Barbara, Calif. to close off the four-city tour.
In a simple sentence: The event was amazing.
With a candy bar where you could fill your own baggy with gumballs, rock candy, and chocolate; a drink bar filled with Go Girl energy drinks, Svelte organic protein shakes, and (of course) water; and a backdrop for pictures, there was a lot to do before the fashion show actually began at 7:30 pm.
The fashion show itself consisted of four “Upgrade Your Life” sections: Upgrade Your Life in Class, at the Gym, on the Weekend, and at Formals. Models who walked the runway were UC Santa Barbara college students. Though I can’t say I loved all the outfits, there were definitely a few that really caught my eye. Specifically, pink jeans paired with a houndstooth coat and black Mary-Jane heels for Upgrade Your Life in Class and a beautiful green fitted dress with a back cutout for Upgrade Your Life at Formals.
Not to mention co-founder, publisher, and president of Her Campus, Windsor Hanger, looked so good in a red sequined BCBG dress.
One of the best parts about attending the show? Two free “Surviving College in Style” bags filled with amazing gifts from Her Campus! They featured Stevia in the Raw, a CalNaturale Svelte protein shake, 5 chocolates from UNREAL Candy, a Luna bar, a classy cup from Her Campus, a card for a free burrito/burrito bowl/tacos from Chipotle, and more! (The Go Girl was from the drink bar; not included in the bag).
Truth be told, all these items really do help to survive college in style. Staying healthy, having a little chocolate here and there, and a great bag is always a good thing.
Overall, had an amazing time at Her Campus’ College Fashion Week!
